PUMP: Pump Characteristics and Power Consumption

system. The final selection of the pump
and the power unit must be made by finding the commercially available units

SPEC: Hydraulic Specifications of Trickle Irrigation Subunits
The criteria used in evaluating the hydraulic performance
of trickle irrigation systems are uniformity coefficients. Whatever the mathematical expression of a
uniformity coefficient might be, it is an indicator of how equal (or unequal)
the application rates from the emitters are.
It is an overall measure of how much the emitter discharges in the
system differ from the average emitter operating discharge due to: 1) changes in pressure due to energy losses
and, 2) manufacturing variation. Uniformity coefficient are difficult to
interpret. Thus it is convenient also
to know the average, the minimum and the maximum discharges that occur within a
concurrently operating section of the system.
This computer program greatly simplifies the computations of the
uniformity coefficients, pressures, and discharges. University of Florida,

HYPCHL: Diagnosis and Treatment of Iron and Slime Clogging
Problems
This utility diagnoses and recommends an initial irrigation
water treatment with sodium hypochlorite (NaOC1) to reduce clogging
problems. The program is highly
interactive and requires data from a water analysis and the characteristics of
the trickle irrigation system. Thus,
familiarity with the irrigation system is necessary to run this program. With the exception of the water analysis
data, most other data are subjective.
Thus, the recommendations given by this program must be taken as a first
approximation and care should be taken to monitor the system in order to
increase or decrease the NaOC1 doses as necessary. University of Florida, 1983.

SCHED: Irrigation
scheduling.
This program maintains a water budget of a full cover
irrigated crop. The software implements the Penman and pan
methods for ET estimations.
MANIFOLD: Design of Multiple Outlet Pipes on Irregular
Topographies
This program has two functions: 1) to compute the
theoretical pipe diameters that will cause the static head variation along a
multiple outlet pipe to remain within predefined limits, and 2) to compute the
static pressure distribution along a multiple outlet pipe given its geometry.
