            This is an interactive program for the computation of 1) the pump characteristics and, 2) the power requirements of a trickle irrigation system.  The final selection of the pump and the power unit must be made by finding the commercially available units that best match the specifica­tions given by this program.  University of Florida, 1983.             SPEC: Hydraulic Specifications of Trickle Irrigation Subunits

 

            The criteria used in evaluating the hydraulic performan­ce of trickle irrigation systems are uniformity coefficients.  Whatever the mathematical expression of a uniformity coefficient might be, it is an indicator of how equal (or unequal) the application rates from the emitters are.  It is an overall measure of how much the emitter discharges in the system differ from the average emitter operating discharge due to:  1) changes in pressure due to energy losses and,  2) manufacturing variation.  Unifor­mity coefficient are difficult to interpret.  Thus it is convenient also to know the average, the minimum and the maximum discharges that occur within a concurrently operating section of the system.  This computer program greatly simplifies the computations of the uniformity coef­ficients, pressures, and discharges.             HYPCHL: Diagnosis and Treatment of Iron and Slime Clogging Problems

 

            This utility diagnoses and recommends an initial irrigation water treatment with sodium hypochlorite (NaOC1) to reduce clogging problems.  The program is highly interactive and requires data from a water analysis and the characteristics of the trickle irrigation system.  Thus, familia­rity with the irriga­tion system is necessary to run this program.  With the exception of the water analysis data, most other data are subjective.  Thus, the recommendations given by this program must be taken as a first approximation and care should be taken to monitor the system in order to increase or decrease the NaOC1 doses as necessary.  University of Florida, 1983.  (Documented in Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida Circular 585)

            This program estimates the CU for trickle irrigation subunits.

 

            ACID:  Estimation of acid injection rates for neutralizing bicarbonates in irrigation water.

 

            This program estimates the requied injection flow rates of diluted acid to guarantee that bicarbonates in irrigation water do not result in Ph soil porblems and Ca deposits in the irrigation system.

 

            SCHED:  Irrigation scheduling.

 

            This program maintains a water budget of a full cover irrigated crop.  The  software implements the Penman and pan methods for ET estimations.

 

            MANIFOLD: Design of Multiple Outlet Pipes on Irregular Topographies

 

            This program has two functions: 1) to compute the theoretical pipe diameters that will cause the static head variation along a multiple outlet pipe to remain within predefined limits, and 2) to compute the static pressure distribution along a multiple outlet pipe given its geometry.             This program computes the relationship between, recurrence interval, intensity and duration for any location in the U.S.

 

            RATIONAL:  Storm runoff by the rational method.

 

            This program estimates the peak discharge from a water shed using the rational method.

 

            PEAKSCS: Storm volume and discharge by the SCS method.

 

            This program estimates peak discharge from a water shed using the Soil Consevation Service method.  The method divides a 24 hr storm into 15 triangular hydrographs and superimposes them to obtain the discharge hydrograph.
